Fencing and Covers

Safety Features Are a Thing of Beauty

Even the most beautifully designed swimming pools are incomplete without safety features. In addition to simple signage and equipment, there are three key ways you can make your pool safe and worry-free.

Pool with safety fenceSafety Fencing

Installing a fence around your pool area is the first and best pool safety measure. They limit pool access, protecting children and pets. Ideally, your safety fence should be at least five feet tall, be self-closing and self-latching, and be free of objects that might allow a child to climb into the pool area.

Your professional pool builder can advise you about local building codes and safety regulations.

Pool Covers

Available in both manual and automatic options, pool covers are a great way to keep your pool clean when it is not in use, and also helps keep children out of the water. A safe pool cover should be able to bear the weight of two adults and a child in case of an emergency.

Pool Alarms

Pool alarms can be used in a number of ways — a gate alarm that will alert you to unauthorized access; a perimeter alarm along the inside of pool fencing that detects motion; or a surface alarm that will alert you to any movement in the water.
