Waterproof Your Loved Ones

Waterproofing the ones you love can pay off in so many ways. You'll spend a lot of your life in and around water; becoming a stronger swimmer now will benefit you for the rest of your days. If you're someone who likes to be around water, for instance, you'll be an asset in any water-related activity. Strong and confident swimmers make better fishermen, boaters, skiers and canoers just to name a precious few.

Probably the number one concern of pool owners and prospective pool owners alike is safety. And the only way to enjoy your pool is the safe way. Your pool can be a positive tool for teaching children, and adults, the benefits of learning to swim and having respect for the water.

Required Reading For Pool Safety
But even if you don't choose to be around water, water is still a part of your life anyway. Almost everywhere you turn, there are bodies of water - in golf courses, at the entrances to subdivisions, in the streets after a heavy rain, even in your own bathtub. If you're comfortable around water, you'll make a better parent, babysitter and neighbor. That's why we insist that you read each and every piece of literature enclosed in your coping and pool liner packages. You'll find several important items with which you must become familiar.

1. Inground Pool Owner's Handbook.
2. Liner warranty and registration card.
3. "DANGER" no diving area warning sign.
4. "No Diving" stickers.
5. "Caution" sticker for pool steps.
6. "The Sensible Way to Enjoy Your Pool," a booklet published by The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (the APSP).
7. "Children Aren't Waterproof", a pamphlet published by the APSP.

As members of the APSP, we would like to inform you of another publication that you may wish to request from the APSP: "Pool and Spa Emergency Procedures for Infants and Children." This publication can be ordered from the APSP by calling or writing them at The Association of Pool and Spa Professionals, 2111 Eisenhower Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22314, (703) 838-0083, or by visiting the APSP consumer web site at www.theapsp.org.
